We are passionate about supporting each other as peers to come together to scope out rest, connection and re-connection especially at times of tough deployment cycles, extended separations and the complexities of adjusting to life around ever changing and unpredictable scheduling.
All our volunteers are from the forces connected community and have specialist skills in therapy or have had specialist training to understand the challenges of forces life including for many loneliness, grief, stress of managing finances and daily life when the submarine is dived or in work up or stress due to not being able to plan ahead or knowing when the boat will be home or out..
All those who are connected with and those who serve deserve to get support, understanding and access to qualified trauma informed practitioners and sign posting to help when needed.
Because we care, we have been developing a nature based therapeutic program specifically for those who identify as needing a break, rest and time to reconnect with themselves.
A 'Wild Spa' and playful nature based sensory experience for those who would like to rest and recover.
We are in the process of exploring funding to offer free family and group nature based retreats. We also intend to run creative expressive workshops for families, young people and adults to offer opportunities to capture our communities authentic voice and share ideas and creativity along with partners from the Forces connected community.
The In Silent Service has grown since its roots in 2010 and is now run through the social enterprise Rise and Rewild CIC which was set up to support people with burn out following the Pandemic - R&R covers the UK with a main base in Devon.

I didn't realise I needed this but
it was the best release from
daily life in challenging times.
More please.
So much support, kindness
and fun has been had by all and
I have met the most wonderful
and supportive mums on this
journey
- all thanks to Helen's
hard work.
This group came at the right time in our
journey into parenthood, from a lonely start
due to lockdown, not knowing any other
mum's or babies, we've made lots of friends
and have had support and advice through
some more challenging times. We will be
forever grateful to this group.
'Absolutely an amazing experience from volunteers and has helped with relaxing and focussing on myself. If this was available more often it would help a lot of people.'
Informative, interesting, eye opening. Who knew we had eight senses not five! Thinking about how to support my son in a different way and will always be grateful for the help and support.
Navigating pregnancy and the wonder years (0 to 5's) can be a challenge when connected with the submarine service and special forces.
We have created a space where you can connect with others who truly understand and have either been there or are currently going through similar challenges themselves. Peer support held by professional practitioners with paediatric and CAMHS experience and from the submarine community themselves.
If you would like a chat or to take part in one of our on-line support groups - please contact the In Silent Service team at R&R by emailing helen@riserewild.co.uk because you are not alone and we are here for you.
We are pleased to offer a peer support network for members of the submarine and special forces connected community who are neurodivergant or who have a young person (with or without a diagnosis) who identifies as having neurodivergent traits or diagnosis.
Neurodiversity is a term which includes a wide range of differences in thinking which can be a real strength both in the workplace, education and in daily life. Differences in thinking may stem from Autism, Dyslexia, DCD/Dyspraxia, Dyscalcular, ADHD, Tourettes, Bi Polar, OCD, Epilepsy.
With some of our greatest innovators, engineers and brightest thinkers coming from within our community and modern (and past) schooling geared mainly towards teaching neuro typical teaching methods and focus, we want to celebrate and connected together. To champion differences in thinking and support each other in tackling challenges arising in school and work environments recognise our strengths and make reasonable adjustments.
We are here for you! Please contact the R&R team for more information on how to get involved and expressions of interest for our webinar series.
